Fry Club Colts v Stoke Lane 24/09/09

Match played at Stoke Lane

We played this game without Brandon as it was his birthday; he was in Anfield for the day but wished all the boy’s good luck via the telephone before the match began.

‘A’ Team – We lined up with Ellis in goal, Jacob and Lewis in defence, Owen, George & Eli in midfield, with Dan Wetmore up front. Subs were Dan Bowden and Harry Clarke. We started at a great pace forcing a corner after 2 minutes we just missed from this corner. We carried on forcing the pace and won a free-kick about 20 yards out. Jacob took it and curled for the top corner but just headed of the line by the defender. Demon show’s his intent for the game with another surging run down the line forcing a throw in, ball breaks loose about 30 yards out and Demon drills it straight back over the keeper and into the net 1-0, it was a great strike after 5 minutes. Owen and Dan work well together to create an opening just wide though. A shot by Birdman after 10 minutes saved by their keeper, Owen shot after 12 minutes and we were on top. Their first real chance comes soon after but Ellis makes a brave save at their forwards feet on his debut for the ‘A’ team, Stoke Lane improve but can’t get pass the impressive pair of Chopper & Demon. A light bit humour in the mist of a great game Jason Seeley comments (looks like a coconut shy across the other side of the pitch as the glaring foreheads of Mr Demon, Mr Birdman and the boss man shine bright) from our pressure we force a corner which Owen delivers well and George comes onto the ball and strikes it first time from 18 yards cracking goal 2-0. After 20 minutes we fall asleep for 20 seconds and Stoke Lane scored to make it 2-1 at half time. In the second half a good save by Ellis after 2 minutes. Birdman nearly gets in on the action in the fifth minute but their keeper smothers it. George forces a corner after 8 minutes and were are back on top. Dan Bowden putting himself about well and Eli busy as usual. Again Ellis saves well and his kicks are good. George is looking sharp up front, but we can’t score the third goal. We force our tenth corner; with a minute left we force another corner a tense finish. Can we hold on or get another? We’ve won 2-1

Man of the match was Jacob Moore (Demon) who was outstanding at the back and scored a great goal.

‘B’ Team – We lined up with Ollie in goal, Rhys and Josh in defence with Harry Scott, Matthew & Dan Payne in midfield and Callum up front, subs were Rooney and Oliver. We started well and a Callum shot was well saved by their keeper after 1 min 30 seconds. They came back at us, good clearance by Josh, Josh is brought down ref played advantage, another good save by goalie, 9 minutes in Callum ends up on top of their goalie. Josh – Aka Ronaldhino does a stepover and goes on a run, Callum has quite a few chances but goalie always there. Kaka makes a good recovery when Stoke Lane looking to score. A brilliant corner by Matt cleared by Stoke Lane good 1st Half when we were all over them. Second half we kick off and keep the pressure on Stoke Lane for the first 10 minutes with chances falling to Callum, Kaka and Matthew but their keeper is up to the test. Oliver breaks through their defence but their keeper saves the day again. Stoke Lane then push on themselves and on a rare attack they score to make it 1-0 on 12 minutes. We push on attacking but couldn’t manage to beat there keeper.

Man of the match was Josh Seeley (Stepover) who made some great tackles and some good runs.
